No. The policy covers any number of storage units at the location that you specify.

My storage site/location is not listed, how do I add it?

You can request a site to be added.

If this is urgent, please call us between 9am and 5pm - Monday to Fridays and we will endeavour to add the site immediately, if it is acceptable.

Does my household insurance cover goods in storage?

It is unlikely that a home insurance policy will cover goods in storage on a permanent basis.

We recommend that you check any household insurance that you may hold to see if you are already insured for goods in storage.

Is Moth and Vermin cover included?

Moth and Vermin cover is automatically included if the access to your storage unit is not external.

If the entrance or exit to or from your own lockable room or unit is from the outside, the cover is not provided.

In the Quote process, this is called Internal Storage with Internal Access, a picture is provided at the point of sale to clarify this.

What type of Goods can I Insure?

Essentially there are two types of goods that can be insured. These are Personal Possessions/Household Goods that are normally kept at private residential addresses, these are sometimes referred to as Contents in a Home Insurance policy.

We can also insure certain business goods as well, a list of business goods can be found within the Quote and Buy process. We are unable to offer insurance for Caravans, Motor Homes, Motor Cars and certain other items.

Explain what you would like to change and we will contact you within 1 working day (usually sooner) to advise on the requested change.

Can I renew my policy when it runs out?

The policy is not a renewable policy, but you can click on the “Arrange New Cover” link in the “My Policies” page to arrange further insurance.

Is Personal Jewellery insured?

The policy covers up to 10% of the total sum insured for items of jewellery. There is also a single article limit of £500 for any one single item of jewellery.

We recommend that high value items of jewellery are kept elsewhere, like a bank, in a safety deposit box. Separate insurance should be arranged for items of high value at other locations.

What is the definition of Valuables?

Valuables are defined as;
Jewellery, watches, furs, items or sets or collections of gold, silver or other precious metals, works of art, sets of stamps, coins or medals all belonging to you.

But not:
Property more specifically insured by any other policy.
Property held or used for any profession, Business or employment.

If I cancel the policy, what refund am I entitled to?

If you cancel the policy and you have not made a claim, you are entitled to a pro-rata refund. The insurers may make a charge for any cover that you have already had if the policy is already in force. GM Insurance Brokers Ltd will make a charge of £10.00 for administering cancellation with the insurer.

How much should I insure for?

You should always insure for the new replacement cost of all items in storage.
